Mathani Hassan Abashar is Assistant Professor of Communication at Umm Al Quwain University, where she teaches in the College of Mass Communication.
Her academic interests focus on public relations, advertising, and the influence of new media, with a special focus on digital ethics, artificial intelligence, and the role of communication in knowledge economies.
Her research has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and academic books, and presented at international conferences. She has contributed to leading publications in the field of media and communication, including topics such as digital transformation, media ethics, infographics and the use of media terminology in the digital age.
Beyond academia, Dr. Mathani has played a key role in curriculum development, academic program design, and institutional committees at various universities in the UAE. She is a member of the UAE Research Map, and actively engaged in several regional and international academic networks, including the Arab Association for Research and Communication Sciences, Orbicom (UNESCO), and the Saudi Association for Media and Communication.
Prior to joining Umm Al Quwain University, she held teaching and leadership roles at institutions such as the University of Modern Sciences in Dubai, Emirates College of Technology in Abu Dhabi, and Ajman University. She has also served as Dean and Head of the Public Relations Department.
She holds a Ph.D. in Communication (Public Relations & Advertising) from Omdurman Islamic University in Sudan, where she also earned her M.A. and B.A. degrees in media and journalism.
