Research and Development Center

Research and scholarly activities are vital strategic goals of the UAQU. The university aims to develop adequate research and scholarship infrastructure and capacity to become a visible and recognized research-active institution.
Faculty members are required to keep active research records, and to advance teaching and research knowledge and skills in their academic disciplines, which is achievable through continues professional development, conducting research projects, and active participation at national and international conference proceedings and peer-reviewed journal publications. 
The research achievements are presented annually, and the level of accomplishment is measured through key performance indicators (KPIs), which are utilized as a guidance for future planning and continues development.

The goals :

Goal 1. Develop and maintain a research culture across all Colleges for active faculty participation and quality research outputs.

Goal 2.Identify research topics and implement priority projects that deliver high social, economic and community-based impact.

Goal 3.Develop and enhance regional and international research partnerships and collaborations.     

Goal 4.Integrating knowledge and methods from different disciplines, using a real synthesis of approaches.

Goal 5.Develop the research base and infrastructure at the University.

Goal 6.Conduct research to the highest ethical standards and attend to its obligations to all communities that will be involved in the research effort.

 

The tasks of the research and development center at Umm Al Quwain University

  1. Providing advice and strategic guidance to the Academic Council on basic research areas and trends, with a focus on the core disciplines in the university’s faculties.
  2. Regularly monitoring and reviewing scientific research issued by faculty members at the university.
  3. Creating a suitable environment for scientific research in all university faculties.
  4. Developing, regularly reviewing and supervising the implementation of the Code of Ethics and Conduct related to scientific research at Umm Al Quwain University.
  5. Evaluating the participation of faculty members in research and scientific publishing.
  6. Emphasis on the quality of scientific research resulting from members of the teaching staff at the university.
  7. Develop and review all institutional policies and procedures that govern research and scientific activities at Umm Al Quwain University.
  8. Reviewing and approving the research proposals submitted by the faculty members at the university.
  9. Preparing and evaluating professional development programs at the university.
