Biography


Dr. Haitham AlTa’any is an Assistant Professor of Social Sciences at the College of Arts and Sciences, Umm Al Quwain University. His academic interests span criminology, medical sociology, social legislation, and contemporary sociological issues, particularly within the context of the UAE and the Arab region. At UAQU, Dr. AlTa’any teaches a diverse range of undergraduate courses including Applied Sociology, Social Legislation, Urban Sociology, Contemporary Emirati Studies, and Medical Sociology. He is deeply committed to enhancing students’ critical thinking and sociological insight through engaging coursework, contextual analysis, and dynamic discussions rooted in regional and global frameworks. He has developed course materials and assessments that align with national academic standards and program learning outcomes. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he actively contributes to departmental planning, academic advising, and curriculum development initiatives.
