Short biography


Attiea Marie is an Accounting Professor and Former Dean at the College of Business Administration at Umm Al Quwain University. His lectures and research focus on the importance of accounting information in short and long-term planning and performance evaluation in addition to risk management of all economic sectors’ activities. 

His research focuses on performance evaluation; the role of accounting information in decision-making; risk management analysis; designing & implementing dynamic standard cost systems, financial reporting, and environment accounting. He was a team member for an approved USAID project (2011-2013) in Iraq to assist Al Mansour University (College of Business) and Baghdad University (College of Business) in preparing for initial application for AACSB. The project was completed in January 2013 and the team submitted its report outlining the gaps that need to be addressed before submission of the initial accreditation report and the suggested ways to deal with these gaps.

Currently, he is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, California; and a member of the Egyptian Institute of Certified Accountants, and he has assumed different academic and professional positions at the University of Alexandria, the University of King Saud, the University of Arab Academy of Science and Technology and University of Dubai. He has also practiced accounting and auditing in Egypt. 

He has performed numerous consultancy assignments with different small and medium-sized firms and organizations in Egypt and the UAE over the years. The list of firms and organizations includes Petrochemical Co; Integrated Data Services- IDS, Mebarit Elasafra Hospital Co., International Group for Agricultural Corps & Livestock; Hazem Hassan & Co. (KPMG), Marie & Co. Integrated Group for Accounting Consultancy-IGAC, Sharjah Department of Culture and Communication (UAE). 

He taught many accounting courses at undergraduate and graduate levels: Financial Reporting (MBA), Accounting for Managers (MBA), Management Accounting (EMBA), Advanced Financial Accounting (MBA), Advanced Cost Accounting (MBA), Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Management Accounting, Cost Accounting, Oil & Gas Accounting, Advanced Financial Accounting, Advanced Managerial Accounting, International Accounting, Financial Analysis, and Principles of Auditing.

His Selected Published books (Arabic) include: Individual and Corporation Accounting, Fundamental of Cost Accounting, Fundamental of Managerial Accounting,  Principles of Financial Accounting, Quantitative Methods and Operation Research, Cost Measurement Systems for Planning and Control, Cost Accounting -The Cost of Production Measurement,  electronic cost - measurement, planning and performance evaluation,  cost management- planning, decision making, control and performance evaluation, and tourism & hotels accounting. 

Prior to joining UAQU he was a Professor at Al Falah University, and the University of Dubai, an Associate Professor at King Saud University, and Alexandria University, and before that, he was an Assistant Professor at Alexandria University and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology.  

He holds a PhD in Accounting from The University of Georgia (Athens Georgia, USA) & Alexandria University, Egypt.
