Biography
Chris is Finance Professor and Dean at the College of Business Administration at Umm Al Quwain University, and Director of the Center for Future Economy. His lectures and research focus on financial intermediation and institutional asset management, especially in the area of alternative investments. His research is frequently cited in various newspaper outlets, such as the Financial Times or The Wall Street Journal, published in leading academic journals, such as the Journal of Financial Economics, and presented at leading academic and practitioner conferences around the world, such as the American Finance Association Annual Meeting. Besides his academic work, Chris has been involved in a number of advisory and policy projects in the area of capital markets, such as the ECB Banking Task Force, the EU Liikanen Group, the German Financial Market Stabilization Fund (SoFFin), the Venture Capital ‘Scale-Up’ project for the UK government or, most recently and in the field of sustainability, as a member on the ‘HSBC Expert Panel on Sustainable Investing’ in the UAE. Prior to joining UAQU he was Associate Professor at the American University of Sharjah, Barclays Fellow at Saïd Business School (University of Oxford), and Assistant Professor at Goethe University in Frankfurt (Germany). He holds a PhD in Finance from Goethe University Frankfurt (Germany), and undergraduate and graduate degrees from European Business School (Germany) and New York University (USA).
