Biography
Dr Ahmed Moustafa Aldabousi has extensive academic experience spanning more than eleven years in teaching various branches of private law, including Commercial Law, Arbitration, Banking Operations, Maritime Law and Aviation Law. He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Commercial and Maritime Law and Arbitration in the master’s Programme in Commercial Arbitration – College of Law – Umm Al Quwain University. He also holds the position of Associate Professor of Commercial and Maritime Law and Arbitration and Programme Director of the Master’s in Intellectual Property – College of Law – American University in the Emirates.
Dr Ahmed obtained his PhD in Commercial Law and Arbitration with the highest honours from Mansoura University, with a recommendation that his thesis be exchanged among universities. He has authored more than 35 published research papers and books in prestigious academic journals in both Arabic and English, including papers published in Scopus‑indexed journals. He currently serves as Managing Editor of an American journal specializing in Private Law and Arbitration.
Alongside his academic career, Dr Ahmed has over seventeen years of professional experience in the fields of legal practice and consultancy. He previously served as a Legal Counsel and a member of the Legal Department of a holding company affiliated with the Ministry of Investment and the Ministry of Public Business Sector in Egypt, where his responsibilities included drafting and concluding various types of contracts, such as commercial contracts, construction contracts and subcontracts, as well as reviewing contracts concluded by the subsidiaries of the holding company. His duties also involved participating as a legal member in tenders, representing clients before judicial authorities, preparing legal memoranda, and handling various practical legal matters.
Dr Ahmed is also a registered arbitrator with several arbitration bodies in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, having participated as an arbitrator in numerous legal disputes. Furthermore, he acts as Legal Counsel to several companies in the fields of construction, maritime services and real estate in the UAE, where he provides specialized services in contract drafting, contract review and legal advisory.
