The Mass Communication Program seeks to prepare generations of media professionals in the media, public relations and new media sectors to meet the challenges of the labor market in the United Arab Emirates and the Arab region through the effective use of technology and new media and critical and analytical thinking. The curriculum aims to clarify the opportunities given to students to practice and pursue their creative works in all media within the context of academic excellence in harmony with the trends of education and international media.

The program is designed to enhance academic training (theoretical and academic) in the field of media (traditional and new) and public relations in the United Arab Emirates, comprising three tracks of study: journalism (print and electronic), new media and public relations.

To define the main goals and clear direct objectives of the program is essential for its success in light of the evaluation efforts and continuous review that will be carried out periodically to determine the extent to which those objectives are being achieved. The following points show the common goals of the program, which are expected to be achieved during the first and second years of the program.

Goal (1) To achieve high levels of effective personal communication in the contexts of mass media and public relations.

-           Improve the students' level in communicative competence through interpersonal means.

1.         Demonstrate a solid and integrated understanding of the requirements of personal communication process.

2.         Apply the principles of successful personal communication in presentations, class discussions, and workgroups.

Goal (2)Introduce the most prominent theories related to the impact of communication, fields of knowledge related to public opinion, ethics and laws of communication, scientific research methods, and the role of media in development and social change, communication technologies, media research and methodologies, communication campaigns, and international and cultural media.

-           Understand the theoretical and cognitive trends in communication in different cultural and global contexts with a focus on the cognitive interconnections between communication and other fields of knowledge in human, social and cultural studies.
