Master's Program
Umm Al Quwain University is proud to offer four accredited Master's programs in Law, recognized by the Commission for Academic Accreditation at the Ministry of Education. These programs include: Master's Program in Arbitration, Master's Program in Criminal Sciences, Master's Program in Private Law, Master's Program in Public Law.
These programs provide students with the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and expertise in various legal specializations, preparing them for successful careers in law and related fields.
Admission Requirements for the Master’s Programs in Law

The student must hold a Bachelor’s degree in law or its equivalent from a university recognized by the Ministry of Education - Higher Education and Scientific Research Affairs in the United Arab Emirates.

The student’s cumulative GPA must not be less than 2.5 out of 4 or its equivalent.

A student with a GPA less than 2.5 but equal to or greater than 2 is allowed to join the Master’s program after successfully passing the three preparatory courses with a GPA of 3 in each preparatory course. The preparatory courses are determined by the College Council at the beginning of each semester.

The student must obtain an English proficiency certificate (450 in TOEFL, 4.5 in IELTS, 950 in EmSAT, or equivalent).

1- Master’s Program in Criminal Sciences
The Master’s Program in Criminal Sciences focuses on providing in-depth studies in subjects related to criminal sciences and the associated subjects of criminal justice at the national, regional, and international levels. The program includes practical applications to various criminal cases and ways to address the related issues within the scope of criminal justice.
Objectives of the Master’s Program in Criminal Sciences
The program aims to achieve the following general objectives:

To enhance the student’s ability to contribute to developing legislative texts in the United Arab Emirates in criminal sciences.

To analyze and explain the nature of criminalization and punishment texts and their classifications within the laws governing them.

To provide innovative solutions for various legal and judicial issues, both theoretically and practically, for cases presented at different local, regional, and international levels.

To establish a distinguished academic role for the college in criminal sciences at all scientific and academic levels, locally, regionally, and globally.

To advance scientific research in all branches of law related to criminal sciences and to enable students to prepare specialized research in these areas.
2- Master’s Program in Arbitration
The Master’s Program in Arbitration is a well-established scientific field that is applied in society. It focuses on providing in-depth studies on dispute resolution topics and the governing legal systems at the national, regional, and international levels. The program includes practical and applied training in commercial and investment topics and related disputes.
Objectives of the Master’s Program in Arbitration
The program aims to achieve the following general objectives:

Prepare and qualify students in dispute resolution through amicable means and enhance their professional competence in arbitration to meet the requirements of UAE society in particular and other countries.

Explain the rules of resorting to arbitration as a means of dispute resolution and employ negotiation skills to end arbitration disputes.

Study the legal issues related to the responsibility of arbitrators, the enforcement of national and international arbitration awards, and ways to resolve them.

Review the legal framework for arbitration centers’ operations, study their work rules and procedures, and learn the applicable laws to the disputes they consider.

Establish a foundation for scientific research in national and international arbitration topics and prepare research and scientific theses related to its issues, contributing to its effectiveness as a suitable means of resolving disputes in various forms.
3- Master’s Program in Private Law
The Master’s Program in Private Law focuses on providing in-depth studies in various subjects of private law, which includes a diverse range of legal studies in branches of private law (civil law, commercial law, private international law, civil procedural law, and others). Furthermore, the Master’s Program in Private Law is a well-established applied scientific field that plays a significant role in the life of societies in general.

The program aims to achieve the following general objectives:

Analyzing and explaining the nature of legal facts and actions and their classifications within the private law framework.

4- Master’s Program in Public Law
The master’s program in public law offers in-depth studies in various subjects, incorporating diverse legal studies across branches of public law (including international law, administrative law, constitutional law, criminal law, and economic and financial legislation, among others). The program also provides comprehensive studies on dispute resolution topics and the governing legal systems at the national, regional, and international levels, emphasizing the national identity of the societies studied.
