For the purpose of strengthening ties between academic and healthcare institutions, students and faculty members of the Department of Sociology, College of Arts and Sciences, at Umm Al Quwain University, made a field visit to Ibrahim Bin Hamad Bin Obaidullah Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

During the visit, the Social Services Department at the hospital was visited, where students learned about the various roles played by social workers in improving the life quality of patients and enhancing their experience within the hospital. The students also introduced the vital social care role played in improving the overall patients’ health, especially those with social problems or low-income. The visit aimed also to discuss the requirement of initiating joint cooperation between the two organizations, and attending sociology students some training at the hospital, with the aim of enhancing their field experiences and better preparing them to enter the social work market.
