On November 11, the graduation project students, Public Relations Program, at Umm Al Quwain University organized a dialogue session entitled "The Role of Public Relations in Managing Crisis Communications" under the supervision of Prof. Wafaa Tharwat at the Al Dhait Youth Center, in cooperation with RAK Police.
This session reflected the integration between academic and governmental institutions to enhance the concept of crisis management and spread the culture of crisis communications. The session was opened by Prof. Haitham Al Samarrai, Dean of the College of Mass Communication, who praised the topic of the practical campaign and commended the positive participation of the RAK Police.
The session included speeches for both Prof. Wafaa Tharwat, faculty member at Umm Al Quwain University, and Brigadier General Dr. Yousef Salem Al Zaabi Deputy Director General of Central Operations, RAK police, and First Lieutenant Abdullah Al Hefeiti, Director of the Crisis and Disaster Branch. The session addressed main topics related to the importance of public relations in directing institutional communication and achieving an effective response to crises, with the presentation of visions and practical examples on how to manage crises.
The session witnessed remarkable interaction from the attendees. And opinions and discussions were exchanged on how to develop communication and crisis management strategies, which resulted in the presentation of new and positive ideas in this field.
For their part, the graduation project students created a number of awareness videos and publications on crisis communication with the aim of developing the knowledge of the participating audience and enhancing their understanding of the role of public relations in supporting institutional stability and increasing community awareness.
At the end of the session, all contributors to the success of the project were honoured in appreciation of their efforts and support in achieving the event's objectives.
