Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, and with the support of His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Saud Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Umm Al Quwain University, the College of Mass Communication has achieved international accreditation from AQAS for a period of six years.
Dr. Chris Rauch, Chancellor of Umm Al Quwain University, announced this significant milestone, marking a new achievement for the university. The College of Mass Communication received international academic accreditation in alignment with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) for six years from AQAS, a prestigious international accreditation organization.
Dr. Rauch expressed his pride in this accomplishment, emphasizing that it is the result of over three years of diligent efforts by the college’s faculty and administrative team. He highlighted that this accreditation reflects the university's commitment to upholding the highest global academic standards, further enhancing its position locally, regionally, and internationally.
Professor Haitham Al-Samarrai, Dean of the College of Mass Communication, explained that the accreditation applies to the college’s three programs—Public Relations and New Media, Digital Journalism, and Broadcast Media—and is based on the EQF standards. Dr. Al-Samarrai described this as a pivotal step in advancing the educational and research endeavors of the college. He added, "This achievement will significantly enhance the employability of our students and graduates, while supporting our continuous efforts to provide a leading educational environment aligned with global advancements in the field of mass communication."
