Public Relations students from the College of Mass Communication at Umm Al Quwain University have launched an awareness campaign on stem cell therapy under the supervision of Prof. Dalia Mohamed Hassan, a Public Relations professor at the college, and with the support of Prof. Haitham Abdulrahman, the Dean of the College.
As a significant step in planning this campaign, the graduating students conducted a field visit to Smart Cells Center in Dubai, a specialized facility in stem cell research and applications. The graduation project aims to highlight the vital role of public relations in raising awareness about the importance and innovative medical benefits of stem cells.
During the visit, the students explored the latest technologies used in stem cell research and received detailed insights from experts on how stem cells are extracted, cultivated, and utilized to treat various chronic diseases. They also conducted interviews with Dr. Marwa Abdelhalim and Dr. Hadeel Al-Khuzai, who emphasized the transformative impact stem cells are expected to have on the future of medicine in the coming years.
The graduation project also seeks to promote this modern treatment concept and encourage the target audience, particularly pregnant women, to donate tissues that serve as sources of stem cells, such as umbilical cord blood, cord tissue, and placental tissue.
This visit aligns with Umm Al Quwain University's efforts to enhance interaction between its students and specialized scientific institutions, providing them with practical experience in health media and supporting health-related causes.
At the end of the visit, an agreement was reached for the center to collaborate with the graduating students in organizing an event at a hospital next April as part of the promotional activities of their project, aiming to increase consumer awareness about stem cell therapy.
