The Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, in collaboration with Falaj Al Mualla Youth Center and the Umm Al Quwain Youth Council, organized an awareness campaign at Umm Al Quwain University to promote the “Our Life in the UAE” competition. The initiative was launched by the Ministry in partnership with the “Watani Al Emarat Foundation” as part of the "Year of Community" initiatives.
The campaign aimed to encourage all segments of society to creatively document their life experiences in the UAE through various forms of writing, reinforcing values of tolerance and cultural diversity.
Rashed Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, Strategic Planning and Institutional Performance Advisor at the Ministry, presented the competition’s participation criteria and accepted writing forms, which include short stories, articles, letters, reflections, and poetry in both Arabic and English. He also introduced the digital platform designated for submissions and distributed informational brochures outlining the submission process.
Al Nuaimi emphasized that the award seeks to engage youth in expressing the values of tolerance through their creative work, thereby strengthening the UAE’s global standing as a model of coexistence and its commitment to building a cohesive, multicultural society. He noted that the competition is open for submissions until the end of November, with this year’s theme focusing on “Tolerance in the UAE.”
A specialized judging panel has been formed to evaluate the submitted works based on strict criteria, focusing on authenticity and creative expression of the value of tolerance.
The campaign also highlighted the Ministry’s key strategic initiatives, including the National Festival of Tolerance, Knights of Tolerance, Tolerance in Schools, Ishraqa Initiative, and the Festival of Human Fraternity, as well as Zayed’s Path for Tolerance, a cultural and educational program that fosters understanding of the core values upon which the UAE was built.
Among the Ministry’s most impactful initiatives is the Knights of Tolerance program, launched in 2018, which has delivered 72 training programs involving 104 government and private entities. The Ministry also continues to oversee the National Initiative for a Tolerant Government, which operates across four levels: the employee, the institution, the community, and the government. To date, 86 institutions have joined the initiative.
In support of global cooperation, the Ministry hosted the “World Governments as Incubators of Tolerance” meeting with participation from 10 countries. In 2021, it also launched a global certification standard for measuring institutional commitment to tolerance, along with the Tolerance Pulse Award, which honors inspiring figures in the field of social coexistence.
