As part of its commitment to impactful community engagement, the Center for Continuing Education at Umm Al Quwain University recently concluded a workshop under the initiative titled “Together Towards Positive Change.” The program was launched in collaboration with the Umm Al Quwain Police Department and targeted Emirati inmates at the correctional institution, aiming to promote positive behavioral transformation and support constructive thinking that contributes to community safety and well-being.
The workshop featured a series of cognitive exercises designed to assess mental efficiency, identify different thinking patterns, and enhance participants’ cognitive processing abilities. The initiative received praise from H.E. Dr. Saif Zayed, Director of the Correctional Institution, and Lt. Col. Jassem Al Saqal, who both emphasized the workshop’s effectiveness in developing mental capabilities and addressing cognitive distortions.
The session was delivered by Dr. Omnia Salem, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Assistant Professor at the College of Mass Communication. She highlighted the participants’ strong engagement and responsiveness throughout the exercises, reflecting the success of the initiative in achieving its community-centered objectives.
This initiative is part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to support various sectors through diverse community programs, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility and its active role in fostering positive societal development.
