The University of Umm Al Quwain team participated in the second edition of the Universities Challenge for Food Security and Sustainability, organized by the United Arab Emirates University from October 22 to 23, 2025, as part of Global Food Week activities held at the Exhibition Center ADNEC, Abu Dhabi. The participation was under the umbrella of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center and supported by the Student Support Services and Alumni Affairs at UAQU.
The students "Yara Abdelghany" and "Mariyam Zuha" presented an innovative solution for the food sector, "Sustain AE," utilizing artificial intelligence technologies to identify food consumption patterns, anticipate required needs, and reduce food waste, thereby contributing to achieving global sustainability goals. The student project was selected among the top 85 out of 150 projects at the level of the country's universities. Participation was with the support of the Vice Chancellor Office and supervised by Dr. Suzan Shahin (Head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center) in collaboration with Mrs. Afnan Bassam (Student Support Services and Alumni Affairs Manager). Best wishes to UAQU students in their future participations.
