As part of Umm Al Quwain University’s commitment to enhancing students’ practical skills, connecting them with professional work environments and experts in the field, and strengthening cooperation with institutions across the UAE, the College of Mass Communication, in collaboration with the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters, organized a specialized lecture titled “The Role of the Official Spokesperson in Conferences and Crises” on Wednesday, November 6, 2025.

The lecture was delivered by Colonel Staff Dr. Abdullah bin Salman Al Nuaimi, Director of the Operations Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, in the presence of Brigadier Ahmed Al Sum Al Naqbi, Director General of Central Operations.

During the workshop, Colonel Al Nuaimi highlighted the essential duties of the official spokesperson as the institution’s first line of defense, explaining the personal traits and media skills that a spokesperson should possess. He emphasized the importance of continuous training and qualification programs to enhance spokespersons’ ability to manage crises and media emergencies efficiently and professionally. He also discussed strategies for building professional relationships based on transparency and credibility with media outlets, and the importance of maintaining a balanced media discourse to reinforce trust between institutions and the public, in line with the official protocols of the government communication system.

He further noted that this initiative aims to empower mass communication students with the tools and knowledge required to handle modern media challenges, refining their abilities to deliver precise and clear messages that achieve a positive and impactful presence in institutional communication environments.
