The Student Services Support and Alumni Affairs Department at Umm Al Quwain University organized a workshop titled “The Art of Communication and Professional Integration”, as part of its commitment to developing professional skills and enhancing the competencies of students and graduates in the workplace.
The workshop aimed to develop effective communication skills among students and graduates and enhance their ability to integrate into work teams and build positive professional relationships based on respect and mutual understanding. It also focused on the importance of understanding different personality types and dealing with them flexibly and professionally.
The workshop covered several key topics, including the concept of communication in the workplace, its types and directions, and the elements of the communication process (sender, message, medium, receiver, and feedback), in addition to common communication barriers and ways to overcome them.
It also highlighted various communication skills, including speaking, writing, active listening, and body language, as well as the concept of professional integration, its stages, and the importance of building positive professional relationships based on respect for cultural and intellectual diversity.
The workshop further addressed the causes of workplace conflicts, discussed different personality types, and explored conflict management strategies through negotiation, de-escalation, and reaching mutually acceptable solutions, in addition to the skills of giving and receiving constructive feedback.
The workshop featured interactive activities and practical exercises that helped participants better understand the concepts presented and translate them into applicable practices in the workplace.
This workshop comes as part of Umm Al Quwain University’s ongoing efforts to support human capital development and prepare graduates for a motivating work environment that contributes to institutional excellence and enhanced professional performance.
