As part of the College of Law at Umm Al Quwain University’s commitment to linking legal knowledge with practical application, Master’s students visited the Department of Economic Development in Umm Al Quwain on the morning of Wednesday, October 14, 2026. The visit was supervised by Professor Fouad Al Shaaibi, instructor of the Anti-Monopoly and Consumer Protection Legislation course.
The visit aimed to strengthen students’ practical understanding of the legislation governing consumer protection and the prevention of monopolistic practices, familiarize them with implementation mechanisms and market monitoring procedures, and highlight the role of relevant economic authorities in safeguarding consumer rights and promoting fair competition.
The visit also provided students with an opportunity to explore practical approaches to enforcing economic legislation and understand the legal challenges faced by regulatory authorities in balancing consumer protection with the interests of business establishments. This experience contributes to deepening their legal knowledge and developing their ability to analyze related practical issues.
The visit forms part of the educational requirements of the Anti-Monopoly and Consumer Protection Legislation course and reflects the College of Law’s commitment to advancing postgraduate programs through educational approaches that connect legal theory with professional practice, preparing qualified legal professionals to address emerging legislative and economic developments.
The visit highlighted the importance of engagement with government and regulatory institutions as a key component of legal training. It also supports postgraduate students in applying their academic knowledge to real-world contexts and interpreting and implementing legislative provisions effectively.
