Students of the Public Relations Program at the College of Mass Communication, Umm Al Quwain University, organized their graduation project entitled “Planting the Nation”, which aimed to highlight the role of public relations in raising community awareness of the importance of agriculture in the United Arab Emirates and supporting national efforts to achieve sustainability and food security.
The event was held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Kshisha Park in the Al Rahmaniya area, in the presence of Dr. Hani Abdulrahman Bakr, Vice Chancellor of Umm Al Quwain University, Dr. Haitham Abdulrahman Al Samarrai, Dean of the College of Mass Communication, along with a number of professionals from the agricultural sector and members of the community.
The event featured Eng. Shaima Al Marzouqi and Dr. Qasim from the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, who presented an overview of the agricultural sector in the UAE, the key challenges it faces, and the importance of leveraging modern technologies and artificial intelligence to improve farming methods and increase agricultural productivity.
The speakers also discussed the concept of sustainable agriculture and its role in preserving natural resources, highlighted the major crops that thrive in the UAE’s local environment, and explored ways to encourage young people to pursue careers in agriculture and contribute to the sector’s development.
The event also included an interactive discussion session, providing attendees with the opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversations on agriculture, sustainability, and environmental social responsibility.
Following the discussion session, attendees toured the accompanying exhibition, which showcased a variety of crops cultivated in the UAE and introduced modern agricultural practices that contribute to enhancing local agricultural production.
The event was supported by the Department of Agriculture and Livestock and The Roots Coffee. It concluded with the recognition of the speakers, supporting organizations, and participants in appreciation of their contributions to the success of the event and the achievement of its educational and community objectives.
