Dr. Suzan Shahin, Assistant Professor at the College of Arts and Science and Head of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Umm Al Quwain University, participated in the International Conference on Integrated Thinking for a Sustainable Economy (ITSE 2026), held in Casablanca, Kingdom of Morocco, from 23–24 July 2026.

Dr. Shahin presented a collaborative research paper titled "Carbon Sequestration as a Climate Finance Asset: Evaluating the Emissions and Carbon Accounting Potential of Coastal Wetland Restoration in Arid Regions." The study focused on the Mangrove Beach in the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain as a model illustrating the potential of coastal wetland restoration projects in arid regions as nature-based solutions to climate challenges, through the application of modeling and forecasting for carbon accounting and greenhouse gas emissions valuation.

The conference welcomed a distinguished group of researchers and experts from around the world specializing in economics, environmental science, and sustainability, providing a platform to exchange research findings and explore pathways toward more resilient and sustainable economies. The conference program also included workshops on the secrets of scientific publishing in high-impact Scopus-indexed journals.

Dr. Shahin extended her sincere appreciation and gratitude to the University's Vice Chancellor, Dr. Hany Bakr, and to the Dean of the College of Arts and Science, Dr. Rabeah Taleb, for their continuous support of scientific research and international academic participation.

This participation reflects Umm Al Quwain University's ongoing commitment to advancing scientific research in the fields of sustainability, climate finance, and nature-based solutions on a global scale.
