College of Mass Communication Organizes Panel Discussion on the Role of Digital Media in Enhancing Public Trust in Government Institutions.

Students from the Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Crisis Management Program at the College of Mass Communication at Umm Al Quwain University organized a panel discussion on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, as part of their graduation project. The discussion, titled "The Role of Digital Media in Enhancing Public Trust in the Performance of Government Institutions: An Applied Study of the Communication Messages of Ras Al Khaimah Police During Crises," was supervised by Dr. Suhair Fahad.

The event aimed to highlight the role of digital media in crisis management, strengthen public trust in official institutions, and emphasize the importance of credible communication messages in combating misinformation and promoting community awareness.

The panel discussion was held at the Ras Al Khaimah Youth Center and was attended by Dr. Haitham Abdulrahman, Dean of the College of Mass Communication, along with members of the evaluation committee and a distinguished group of experts in the fields of security and media.

The discussion featured Brigadier General Staff Dr. Abdullah Ahmed Bin Salman Al Nuaimi, Director of the Operations Department at the General Headquarters of Ras Al Khaimah Police and Official Spokesperson for the Local Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Team, as well as Captain Thaer Al Najjar from the General Headquarters of Ras Al Khaimah Police. The speakers addressed the role of institutional communication during crises and highlighted the importance of official media messages in strengthening public trust by ensuring rapid media response and providing accurate information from reliable sources.

The session explored several key topics, including the concept of digital media and crisis management, the role of official communication messages in building public trust, strategies for combating misinformation through digital platforms, and the presentation of the study's findings through an analysis of Ras Al Khaimah Police's communication messages during crises. The discussion also presented a number of recommendations aimed at enhancing the preparedness of media institutions in crisis management.

The event also included an interactive discussion with attendees, during which participants exchanged views on various issues related to digital media, crisis management, and the role of government institutions in fostering an informed society based on accurate information and trusted sources.

At the conclusion of the event, the speakers, supporting organizations, and participants were honored in recognition of their valuable contributions to the success of the panel discussion and the achievement of its academic and community objectives.
