College of Computer Science Organizes Welcome and Orientation Meeting for New Students.

The College of Computer Science at Umm Al Quwain University organized a welcome and orientation meeting on Thursday, September 3, 2026, for new students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity and Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Smart Systems programs. The meeting aimed to welcome students, introduce them to the academic programs and university services, and provide them with the information and guidance needed to begin their university journey with confidence and effectiveness.

The meeting opened with a welcome address by Dr. Hani Bakr, Vice Chancellor of Umm Al Quwain University, who welcomed the new students and emphasized the University’s commitment to providing a supportive educational environment that promotes excellence and innovation. He also highlighted the University’s mission and vision and its commitment to academic excellence, as well as the facilities and resources available to support students’ innovations and projects, along with opportunities to develop their skills and benefit from various university activities and initiatives.

The students were introduced to the College’s academic faculty members, and were also briefed on academic advising procedures and its importance in planning their study paths, selecting courses, and monitoring their academic progress.

Dr. Fatima Khalaf delivered an introductory presentation on the Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity program, covering its structure and study plan, as well as the career fields and professional opportunities available to graduates in light of the growing demand for specialized cybersecurity professionals.

Dr. Ali Siam also delivered an introductory presentation on the Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Smart Systems, one of the University’s modern academic programs. He outlined the program’s objectives, academic structure, and study plan, in addition to the skills students acquire and the employment and professional opportunities available to graduates across various sectors.

As part of introducing students to the University’s technology services, the Information Technology Department conducted an orientation session covering the electronic services provided by the University, including creating and using university email accounts, accessing the Learning Management System (LMS), and using student portals and various electronic services.

Students were also introduced to the services provided by the University Library, including learning resources, references, databases, and other materials supporting teaching and scientific research, as well as other services available to students throughout their studies.

The students were further introduced to the services of the Student Services Center, which provides a range of services and programs, including counseling and support services, student activities, and official communication channels with the Center.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Hani Bakr, Vice Chancellor of Umm Al Quwain University, and the College’s academic faculty members honored a number of outstanding students in recognition of their achievements during the previous semester and their active participation in various activities, events, and initiatives across the United Arab Emirates. The recognition acknowledged their efforts and excellence and encouraged them to continue their contributions, achievements, and positive engagement in university and community life.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion session, providing students with an opportunity to raise their questions and inquiries and receive the necessary clarifications regarding various academic matters and university services. The session further strengthened direct interaction between students, faculty members, and the relevant university departments.
